Kearsarge Johnstown

Kearsarge Johnstown (Johnstown, NY)

Developed, owned, and operated by Kearsarge, the Johnstown site is ground-mounted on two parcels of previously underutilized land spanning 20 acres. One of nine community solar projects awarded through the “Solar 4 All” program by The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Kearsarge, together with its partner Common Energy, will offer access to no-cost solar energy generated by the site to low-income Capital Region residents in 2019.

This is the first in a series of awards under the NYSERDA program to provide access to no-cost community solar to 10,000 low-income New Yorkers. Increasing access to renewable energy for all New Yorkers is a cornerstone of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s clean energy agenda.

“It’s a privilege to have been selected to play a key role in an initiative that benefits both the environment and low-income residents”, said Andrew Bernstein, Kearsarge’s Managing Director.  “Kearsarge has been a major player in innumerable public-private partnerships in the Northeast, but the ability to have a direct impact on people who really need help with their energy bills is especially gratifying.”
